The Mads Clausen Foundation was established in 1960 by the Danish industrialist Mads Clausen, the founder of Danfoss, in order to formalise his charitable contributions after having, for many years, donated large sums to various associations and organisations in the local community on the island of Als where Danfoss is based.
The foundation capital was originally donated by Mads Clausen himself and has since been supplemented by donations from Danfoss and from the Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation.
